Fundraising ideas

Fundraising is a great way to socialise, have fun and stay healthy. You could join a group, organise your own event or get involved with ours. The funds you raise go towards the care and treatment of local  people. Let’s help make it better for everyone.

We have put together a whole list of ideas to give you some inspiration for your next fundraiser.

Run, swim, cycle or walk

Whether you're doing laps of the local pool, or you've got your sights set on the London Marathon, a run, walk or swim is a classic fundraiser for a reason. Your training won't just get you fit, but will give you plenty of opportunities to show friends and family what you're doing, tell them your story, and raise even more pennies.

Skydive, abseil or obstacle course

Are you a daredevil? Or do you have a fear that you'd love to conquer? We've seen some incredible feats undertaken by our fundraisers, from jumping out of planes to completing a gruelling military assault course, or abseiling down the Ashton Memorial. We're behind you 100% of the way.

Afternoon tea, coffee morning, or dinner party

For those who love to host, a social event (with food!) can be the perfect way to support your cause. Whether it's a small gathering at home, or an afternoon tea for 100, everyone loves an excuse to get together over tea and cake. Often friends, family and local businesses will donate rooms, food, drink and prizes to the charity, then all you need to do is sell tickets - and don't forget the raffle!

Cake sale or tuck shop

A great place to raise funds is at work or at school. Selling cakes or other sweet treats at lunch time is an easy way to get some support for your cause while putting a smile on people's faces at the same time. Just remember to label your cakes with possible allergens - nuts, gluten and dairy in particular.

Disco, karaoke or quiz night

As we go through the year there's always another milestone or holiday to look forward to, whether it's Christmas, New Year, Eid, or Halloween. Why not turn your celebrations into a themed fundraiser? And you're not limited to holidays - you can dance the night away, sing your heart out, or quiz your colleagues any night of the year.

Kick the habit

More and more our fundraisers are challenging themselves to give up a bad habit - whether it's alcohol, crisps, chocolate or smoking. You can ask friends and family to sponsor you, and if your habit is expensive, you could even donate the money you save as well.

Sponsored head shave

A popular fundraising activity for those supporting our cancer services is a sponsored head shave. Not only will you be raising funds for an important cause but you'll also be raising awareness. Why not ask people to bid for the chance to shave your head?

Marathon event

We're not just talking running across London here! Whatever your talent - whether you're a gamer, a cricketer, or a hairdresser - if you can keep it up for 26 hours, that's a marathon. The possibilities are endless.

Collection boxes

It's estimated that as a country, we have £345 million in loose change in our homes (Great Ormond Street reference), down the back of sofas and in cars. Put your pennies to good use, drop them into us, or the General Office at your local hospital next time you are passing. Why not collect change at your workplace and encourage colleagues to get involved.
