Events Chapel Island Walk Setting off from Canal Foot near Ulverston, the journey takes you across the open shoreline, offering spectacular views and a real sense of the Bay’s scale and beauty. After crossing the River Leven, we will make our way to Chapel Island itself, where walkers can take time to explore and spot the diverse wildlife that calls the island home. You will also pass the historic Collins Weir, a long‑lost cart route that resurfaced in 2024 after more than 70 years beneath the sands and is expected to be visible again this year. The route loops back to Canal Foot and covers approximately two to six miles, with the walk taking around three hours in total. Although the walk is suitable for most people, a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Safety is paramount, and you will be led across the shifting sands by Raymond Porter, the Bay’s highly respected and Royally appointed King’s Guide. Places are now available, but numbers are strictly limited, so early booking is encouraged. We would love your company, please join us for an unforgettable day.
