The provision of rehabilitation for critically ill patients is an essential part of the role we play on critical care. Critical illness often leads to muscle weakness, physical deconditioning, cognitive decline, and psychological distress, so early and structured rehabilitation is crucial.

We would like to fundraise to purchase an over bed bike which could be used on patients on the intensive care unit. The physical benefits of utilising an over bed bike to aid in the rehabilitation of critically ill patients include the prevention of ICU-acquired weakness, improved functional outcomes, improved respiratory function and a reduction in other ICU-associated complications (for example, the development of pressure ulcers, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pneumonia, and joint contractures).
